Birth to Three Parent Child Program - Eau Claire
About the Program
We evaluate and help determine if a child will qualify for services.
There are five areas of development that are looked at in a child. A child is eligible for services if there is a significant delay in any ONE of the following areas.
-
Communication - This relates to sounds, movements, gestures and words that a child utilizes to indicate wants, needs and thoughts, in addition to a child understanding what is being said to him or her by others.
-
Motor - This includes a child's ability to perform large muscle movements like rolling, sitting, crawling, standing and walking, as well as small muscle tasks like holding a bottle, shaking a rattle, turning pages in a book and picking things up, in addition to eye-hand coordination.
-
Cognition - This relates to how a child learns through active exploration, imitation of others, problem-solving, object permanence, and conceptual development.
-
Social-Emotional - This includes a child's attachment, interactions and relationships with others. It also refers to a child’s self concept, coping skills and emotional regulation.
-
Self Help/Adaptive - This relates to the activities of daily living like eating, dressing, sleeping and toileting.
We assist parents and other caregivers to help their child reach his or her full potential, based on team-developed (the family being the most important part of the team) outcomes identified in the child and family's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
-
We work directly with families and other primary caregivers in natural environments (homes, child care settings, community settings, etc.).
-
We drive to families' homes or other chosen locations to meet with them.
-
We identify children and families' strengths, priorities and resources, which serve as the foundation for all that we do.
-
We individualize services for each and every family we serve.
-
We provide services within naturally occurring routines (meal times, play times, chore times, etc).
-
We serve as a coach to families in assisting them to problem-solve ways to best help their child learn or enhance their development.
-
We encourage families to find joy in their interactions with their children.
-
We celebrate accomplishments with families.
-
We provide information about resources families can utilize to secure opportunities or assist with day to day challenges that may arise.
-
We help families obtain needed assistive technologies and other equipment.
-
We coordinate with other providers to warrant a team-based approach to early intervention services.
-
We develop new plans with families when children meet their current goals.
-
We attend a variety of continuing education opportunities so that we may continually develop our teaching abilities and best serve children and families as a result.
We are continually amazed of the wonderful families and caregivers we encounter through our work!
